The Journey Begins
The Nazca Lines, also known in scientific contexts as “geoglyphs,” are one of the most important legacies of Peru’s ancient pre-Inca cultures. Located in the valleys of Palpa and Nazca, in the department of Ica, this vast expanse of desert plains displays enormous geometric figures across its sands which, in perfect harmony, form drawings of animals, plants, objects, human beings, and deities.
Regarding the origin and meaning of these lines, both archaeologists and researchers of paranormal phenomena have proposed various theories. Some interpret them as a massive astronomical calendar; others see them as a site for water worship built by the Paracas and Nazca cultures.
Nazca, Paracas and Ica
DAY 1: PICK-UP 4:00–5:00 AM | LIMA – PARACAS
After pick-up, we will prepare for an approximately 3-hour यात्रा (journey), with a stop at an artisanal bakery. You will have free time to enjoy a freshly baked, warm breakfast.
We will begin the tour to the Ballestas Islands. We will enter the “El Chaco” pier and board a speedboat that will take us to the Ballestas Islands for more than 1 hour. Along the way, we will observe the Paracas Candelabra, sea lions, Humboldt penguins, and a wide variety of guano birds.
Arrival at a winery and tourist restaurant, where you will have free time to try traditional dishes from Ica (optional). Then we will move to the tasting room to sample more than five varieties of wines, piscos, and cream liqueurs. There will also be time for shopping.
The best part of the day: arrival at the Huacachina Oasis, known as the Oasis of America, where we will enjoy an adventure activity with dune buggies, riding up and down the dunes of Ica at high speed—an experience similar to a roller coaster on sand. Once at the top, we will slide down on sandboards; this adventure sport is known as sandboarding.
Afterward, you will have free time to walk around the oasis. At 5:00 PM, transfer to Nazca.
9:00 AM – OVERFLIGHT
We will get all our belongings ready and head to the airfield. Upon arrival, we will have a short wait before flying over the 14 Nazca figures, including the bird, pelican, spider, hummingbird, condor, monkey, and more.
After viewing the lines, we will travel by private service to Ica, with an approximate duration of 2 hours. Upon arrival, you will have a few hours of free time to enjoy a well-deserved lunch (optional) or walk around the Huacachina area (free entry).
Departure from Ica to Lima at 5:00 PM, with arrival in the city of Lima at approximately 9:30 PM.
